ELECTRIC CAR OUTLETS

As our fuel sources evolve, cars are increasingly requiring special receptacles for charging electric cars.  We can work with you to figure out what is needed for your vehicle and offer options for keeping your car charged using your home or office’s electrical system.

SERVICE UPGRADES

While buildings are designed with a specific use in mind, you may have upgrades in mind that push the envelope.  We are prepared to redesign your electrical system, whether you need increased service, more breaker space, or even a change from single phase electric to three phase.  We are happy to be the experts to take on the job and help you through the process of what is needed!

SURGE SUPPRESSION

Protecting our homes and buildings from lightning is a big deal in Florida.  With our frequent thunderstorms, lightning is always a source of problems for electrical systems in our area.  Our Service Division supplies and installs Lightning Arrestor and TVSS (Transient Voltage Surge Suppressor) for added protection for your valuable electrical devices and systems.

RESIDENTIAL BOAT LIFT WIRING

ACRA’s Marine Department prides itself on high quality boat lift and dock wiring. All docks are wired using heavy wall Schedule 80 PVC, stainless steel fasteners, and are GFCI Protected.  In addition, we will work with you and your dock builder to provide lighting, remote controls, and shore power to your dock and lift.  Your preferences are important to us!  We want your dock to be exactly how you want it.

DOCK WIRING (INCLUDING LIGHTING AND SHORE POWER)

We offer Eaton and Marina Electrical Equipment marine pedestals in both commercial and residential spaces with a choice of outlets for any requirement.  We design decorative and functional lighting systems for docks that will last, and GEM Manufacturing Remote Controls for boat lifts that will add safety and convenience. We work with our customers to design a complete system on paper before we begin work.

NEW BUILDING WIRING

New buildings are an amazing thing, taking something on paper and making it into a reality!  ACRA Electric has over 40 years experience in making plans come to life.

Electrical System Optimization (value engineering and energy efficiency)

You know the saying that two brains are better than one?  This is evident all the time as plans come across our desks.  As we see what is planned for residential or commercial projects, we also take the time to figure out if a better, more efficient system could be produced.

Our commitment to energy efficiency is shown not only in title (our two accredited professionals by the Leadership in Energy and Efficient Design (LEED) organization on staff), but in our focus on shifting to efficient fixtures and practices, leading not only to a more efficient initial build but also continued savings for you in the long run.

PANEL CHANGES

Out-of-date panels need to be replaced, bringing the electric for the house up to current code requirements, sometimes required by insurance companies and other times at the time of house sale.  Whatever reason you have for needing a panel change, we are experts in working with the local municipalities and power companies to get your panel changed out.

Other items can also need replacement, whether they have gone bad or have been involved in storm damage.  Meter sockets and electrical risers are regular victims of storm related damage.

ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE AND UPGRADE

While buildings are designed with a specific use in mind, you may have upgrades in mind that push the envelope.  We are prepared to redesign your electrical system, whether you need increased service, more breaker space, or even a change from single phase electric to three phase.  We are happy to be the experts to take on the job and help you through the process of what is needed!

ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE AND UPGRADE

Docks are typically designed with a certain amount of power needed for boat lifts, shore power, etc., and over time, those needs may change.  We are prepared to redesign your marine electrical system, whether you need increased service, more breaker space, or even a change from single phase electric to three phase.  We are happy to be the experts to take on the job and help you through the process of what is needed!

REMODELS AND ADDITIONS

Our team is capable of working on all types of renovations.  From small to large, we will take care of your space!

CONSTRUCTION COORDINATION

Our team has been coordinating projects from the ground up for over 40 years.  We are accustomed to working with permitting municipalities, power companies, and suppliers so that the pressure can come off of you, and your job still flows smoothly.

We are also here to answer any questions you may have during the process so that you can rest easy, knowing that your project is being taken care of!

LIGHTING SOLUTIONS

Whether you’re looking to upgrade your lighting or just maintain it, we are available to keep your spaces looking great.  From indoor and outdoor lamp and ballast replacement to full on fixture replacement, we do it all in the Service Department, even down to repair or replacement of switches, outlets, and photocells.

For commercial customers, we are prepared to work on parking lot pole lights and indoor and outdoor lighting maintenance, as well.

Upgrading fixtures to more modern and energy efficient lighting is a great way to liven up a room and look forward to future savings in energy bills, too!  Current technology uses LED bulbs which use about 75% less energy than the old, inefficient bulbs you may still have in your fixtures.

MARINA WIRING AND INSPECTIONS

Our Marine Department has provided complete wiring for many local Marinas including: Gulf Harbour Marina, Cape Harbour Marina, Tarpon Point Marina, Legacy Harbor Marina, Tween Waters Marina, Burnt Store Marina, Sweetwater Landings Marina, Captiva Island Yacht Club, Naples City Dock, Naples Bay Marina and Hamilton Harbor Marina.

An important part of Marina Operation is the maintenance and routine testing of the Marina Electrical System. Marine environments cause corrosion and constant movement, factors that can contribute to electrical failures without proper, ongoing maintenance. ACRA’s team engages in continuing education and constant process updates to make sure they are ahead of the curve with upcoming requirements and safety needs.

Currently, NFPA 303 – Article 520 of the Fire Protection Standard for Marinas and Boatyards requires inspection of the marina electrical wiring and equipment at least annually. ACRA Electric, Inc., with years of marina wiring experience, offers a service to evaluate and report on the condition of the electrical system at marinas.

The Marina Electrical Inspection Service includes:

A full inspection of shore power pedestals and receptacle sizes.

- Survey of electrical service, feeders, and distribution system, to include cycling of each overcurrent protective device and disconnect switch.

- Inspection of switchgear.

- Inspection of shore to dock electrical connection for floating docks.

- Evaluation of grounding electrode system.

- Testing of each individual shore power receptacle to include: voltage, voltage drop, ground to neutral voltage, resistance of hot, neutral, and ground conductors, GFCI, and light test.

- Boats that are connected will be tested for possible leaking current, bonding continuity, and neutral isolation.

After the inspection is completed a report and summary will be prepared and presented, along with recommendations for possible repairs.
